Once we had fixed the story and knew how the set should look an work, the set was modelled within a day by Niamh whilst the rest of us worked on other parts of the film production.
we needed a set that the camera could fly through without seeing pieces of the background or parts of maya that we didn’t want seen. We knew from images of the real easter island, that it needed to be hilly. The real easter island as the sea at the side, so we decided to shoot the film from another angle so that we wouldn’t have to over complicate things with water that wasn’t needed to tell the story.
Here is our set from a great distance back without textures.
The long flat plane in the background is where the sky texture is, Julie painted the texture for this and it was lovely.
After the set was complete i painted/created most of the textures for it, here is the set fully textured.
And here is the set rendered, with lights etc included
i was pleased with how the set looked in the end
